Demerit
points incurred because of driving offences are added to a person’s driving
record when any of the following occur:
- The fine is paid, OR
- The fine which is unpaid has
been enforced by Revenue NSW: OR
- The Court issues a conviction
for the offence
Offences
age with time, this means the TFNSW does NOT consider offences which are older
than 40 months (3 years and 4 months) towards a suspension. This system
ensures that drivers are only held accountable/ suspended for recent offences
within the 3 years and 4 months window.
It should
be noted however that all Demerit point offences remain on a person’s driving
record, and they are never removed.
