The short answer is
YES, you do need a lawyer. We always recommend that you obtain legal advice
prior to going to court at the bare minimum. One of the main reasons as to why it
is critical to instruct a lawyer to act for you is because the lawyer will be
able to give you legal advice and better educate you as to your rights, your responsibilities and the likely outcome in your case.
Not having a lawyer
and simply going into court without having received legal advice can be a
horrific experience and this is because the lawyer’s job is to act in your best interests at all times, the lawyer’s job
will be to put your case forward, explain to the magistrate/ judge your
situation and act in your best interests at all times.
We always recommend
that you at the bare minimum obtain legal advice prior to going to Court so
that you are aware of the seriousness of the matter as well as the likely
outcome which you should expect.
